"Gazoo" from The Banjo Lesson

THE BANJO LESSON is a solo theatre piece in two parts which traces the history of the banjo from its origins in West Africa through American popular culture.  Mr. Sedgwick plays a variety of historical characters including women and African-American banjoists by utilizing hand-made three-quarter ("speaking") masks.  He plays on authentic and reproduction period instruments, many of which were built by him.  The program is appropriate for middle school and high school audiences, corporate and festival functions, and general adult audiences.  THE BANJO LESSON is the ideal enrichment program for Music, Theatre, Visual Art, African-American History, American History and Social Studies curricula, and is fascinating as pure entertainment!

BANJO FUN! takes the traditional Children's Musical Program and turns it into an opportunity for young children to bask in America's rich musical heritage while having a stomping good time!  Programs are tailored to meet the needs of audiences.

This just might be one of the last things you'd ever expect to see made from gourds!  Mr. Sedgwick pioneered the technique used to make Gourd Didgeridoos. To find out what a Gourd Didgeridoo is, click now!
